Vets On Set was originally founded in 2011 by Dave Rosen and his Navy veteran father, Roy Rosen. Right out of the gate, we hit the ground running to help veterans find meaningful employment. At the time, very few organizations focused on helping veterans break into the film and television industries.

From the beginning, our philosophy has always been simple: there is no competition when everyone’s true goal is supporting our veterans and giving back to the community. Years ago, when a new veteran-based organization connected with The American Legion expressed interest in taking the lead, we decided to step back and let them carry the torch. However, after watching their progress, it became clear they weren’t seeing the same job placement outcomes. Following my father’s passing, I decided to jump back in. Keeping Vets On Set alive has become a massive personal passion, and our success rate in placing veterans into film, television, live events, sports production, and music has been exceptionally high.

Bridging the Gap to Industry Success

When a veteran graduates from a film or TV program, it takes time to build the network and connections needed to earn a steady living—especially in a high-cost area like Los Angeles.

That is why our program looks beyond just getting on-set placement. We help veterans find jobs in film and television support companies, including:

 Rental and equipment houses

 Trucking and logistics companies

 Warehouse operations and support facilities

These roles serve as an amazing launching pad. They allow veterans to meet industry professionals, build connections, and earn a steady income while establishing themselves. Before long, they are positioned to secure the exact creative or technical roles they originally sought.

Real-World Experience and Expansion

Our internal companies—Absolute Rentals and Absolute Media Lab—have been instrumental in this mission. For instance, when we worked on the Paris Hilton project, four U.S. veterans were right by our side working on the concert and earning official credit.

Some of our recent milestones include:

 Partnering with the Marines last year for a live stream production staffed by veterans.

 Providing work opportunities at Blank Spaces locations in Santa Monica and Venice.

 Hiring veterans to build LED walls for the band Mötley Crüe at multiple locations.

There is truly no end to the opportunities we provide here at Vets On Set. We are incredibly excited for what this upcoming year holds as we continue to grow the program, expand our reach, and create even more success stories.
